Wind Ensemble in China

SUNY Fredonia Wind EnsembleUnder the direction of Dr. Paula Holcomb, the Fredonia Wind Ensemble consists of the most outstanding wind and percussion players at the university. Dedicated to presenting the finest repertoire from all musical periods to its audiences, it draws from contemporary and historical wind works, orchestral transcriptions, as well as standard band literature.

The Ensemble has performed at the Eastern Division of the College Band Directors Association, New York State School Band Directors Association, and New York State School Music Educators Association. In addition, a CD featuring Randall Hawkes, bass trombonist of the Detroit Symphony and Alex Jokipii, principal trumpet of the Buffalo Philharmonic is about to be released. Guest artists and composers have included Larry Combs, Samuel Adler, Joseph Schwantner, Robert Van Sice, Robert Boudreau, Leslie Bassett, Timothy Reynish, Dana Wilson, Gail Williams, Ray Cramer, Robert Ponto, Julie DeRoche, Larry Combs, Timothy Foley, Mark Scatterday, Graham Ashton, and Mallory Thompson.
