Hello Dr. Holcomb,
Where are you? Did I miss you in H K?

Heather,
Hope you enjoyed your trip. Enjoy what is left and have a safe trip home.
Mr. Miller
It's been very 'eye opening' to meet and hear many of the young musicians in the People’s Republic of China & Hong Kong. The good news is that the interest in a musical world is huge. Additionally, I have played on a china built trumpet and found it to be quite in-tune and free-playing for an instrument that only costs $ 200. That’s the good news. The bad news is the limited space available to practice is a common problem. Most urban areas of Asia use limited space very efficiently. This leaves very little tolerance for venues to practice a musical instrument. Even in a modern Hong Kong the difficulty finding a place for beginning and intermediate student to practice is a limiting factor in their development. The story is common of how neighbors complain to the police when a trumpet student plays in an isolated part of their parent’s apartment. The laws of ‘quiet hours’ are yet to be decided upon. The practicing musician, student or professional has no ‘lobby’ here.

Sounds amazing Heather. I heard the food hasn't agreed well at all with Carolyn and Andy either. I sure hope they're feeling better.
As far as the heat goes, wait til you come home, you'll COOL right down. Hopefully you'll come home to sunny 70's weather!!!
Keep having a great time. Christi

Hi! Mark, Hi!everybody. This is Chieko from Japan.
I'm glad to hear that you all got to China safe!
How is there? Do you bring lap top with you? Don't you have any concerts or reheasals for three days, you said?
I'm looking forward to looking your pictures!
I miss you guys so much.
silence
I was wondering if you got there in time for the silence. Didn't know they made it 3 days worth.
My drill with jetlag is to forget what time it is back home and force my body into the new time zone. It usually means staying awake and being dead tired through what would normally be a sleep cycle. Once you get through that you can hopefully join the local life cycle. It's worth it, trust me.
Anyway, the sightseeing sounds fun. Have a good one!
YAY....you all made it!!!
I'm so glad to hear that you all had an uneventful flight and made it safely to China. I thought of all of you all day Saturday and Sunday hoping you things were going smoothly. Marc Levy and I were both wondering how the 3 days of mourning would affect your plans but it sounds like it will work out just fine.
Tell everyone I said hello and that I'm thinking of you all.
Keep the blogs coming, Christi
Wow! That sounds cool! This is Josh's sister. Tell him we said HI!
Hey..thanks for the e-mail..
All your "stuff' is posted on the door of the chorus room (hall side) so that the multitudes can read it and follow your progress.
We have been watching the news and seeing what is going on in China. You are certainly there at a moment of history-making events.
Our concert is tonight..we will be thinking of you..especially while singing "Small Part of the World".
